The Black Sea coast in Bulgaria has been an International resort for decades. Here is a flavour of the main towns in the region around the apartments.
St Vlas
St Vlas is located in the southern foothills of the Stara Planina mountains on the Black Sea coast with a population of approx 3,000. It is situated 38km from Bourgas international airport and 6km from Sunny Beach. The whole of the St Vlas coast faces south and is a natural Riviera. The beaches are wide, clean and sandy.
St Vlas is split in two by a main road, running from Elenite to Sunny Beach. West of the main road (In land) is St Vlas centre with its attractive main square with bars, restaurants and shops.
East of the road (heading towards the beach) are many hotel complexes that run down to the beaches and the Marina.
Away from the noise of Sunny Beach, St Vlas is a preferred location for rest and relaxation.
Sunny Beach
Sunny Beach resort is located in a crescent shaped bay opening up onto the Black Sea. To the north is the Stara Planina mountains and the resorts of St Vlas and Elenite. To the south is the historic island of Nessebar.
The beach is 8km long and 30m-60m wide.
It has been an international resort since the first guests arrived in 1959, but it really took off in the 1970’s.
Today there are over 200 hotels lined along the coast with many bars, restaurants and discos open until the early hours.
Tourist services offered are in a class of their own including surfing, water-skiing, parachute jumping, banana boats, yachts, water pedaloes, scooters, volleyball, tennis, horse riding and many amusements arcades and also a huge waterpark.
Bourgas
Bourgas is the 2nd largest city on the Black Sea coast (After Varna) and is the nearest city to the apartments, just 40km away. Bourgas has good nightlife and plenty of restaurants and has a very relaxed feel about it.
It has a large beach and is the main hub for transport links to the rest of Bulgaria.
You can get there by bus from Sunny Beach (See the getting around section)
Nessebar
The UNESCO world heritage town of Nessebar with millennia-old history is on a romantic rocky peninsula connected to the mainland via a narrow isthmus. Valuable monuments from all stages of its long existence are preserved here: remnants of fortress walls from Roman times and the middle ages, old Byzantine and Bulgarian churches, antique 18th and 19th century houses.
There are many restaurants tucked away in narrow winding streets or located on the beaches. Here you can taste traditional Bulgarian dishes, fresh seafood and drink exotic cocktails.
Nessebar owes some of its popularity as an international tourist centre to its harbour, part of the route of many world cruise liners.
Just outside of Nessebar, there is a brand new aquapark (Opened 2007).
You can also get to Nessebar from St Vlas Marina by boat. See our downloadable guide for further information - Click here
